Description
In between the small Scottish towns of Aberfeldy and Grandtully, lies an amazing sight for those who are willing to explore - St Mary's Kirk and it's beautiful, historic painted ceiling. Probably built in the 1500s by Alexander Stewart, this small chapel was renovated in 1636 by Sir William Stewart who added an extension and the ceiling. It is believed that the ceiling was painted around this same time period. It's not known who painted the ceiling or why it was done, but it leaves behind an amazing legacy of the past for us to enjoy today.
